Vacation rentals are one of the best places to enjoy a private chef. Whether you are staying in a midcentury home in Palm Springs, a golf rental in La Quinta or a cabin in Joshua Tree, here is what to expect from start to finish.
Before your stay
You share your dates, guest count, rental address and any dietary needs. The chef asks about the kitchen and sends a custom menu proposal. Once you confirm, the menu is finalized and the chef plans the shopping.
What your rental kitchen needs
- A working stove and oven
- Refrigeration space
- Counter or prep space
- Basic pots, pans and serving dishes
Most rentals have everything. If yours is small or off-grid, say so in advance and the menu will be planned around it.
On the day
The chef arrives with ingredients, knives and specialty tools, typically an hour or two before dinner. You relax while the kitchen comes alive, then dinner is served wherever you want to dine, including outdoors on the patio.
After dinner
The kitchen is cleaned and leftovers are packed if you want them. Your rental is left just as you found it, which also keeps your host happy.
Multiple meals?
Many groups book a personal chef for several meals during their stay, from breakfasts to a final night feast.
